We are devoted to the care & safety of women planning or already pregnant with medical problems.

Sandra Lowe is a Conjoint Associate Professor with the School of Women’s & Children’s Health, UNSW and a Visiting Obstetric Physician at the Royal Hospital for Women in Randwick and the Prince of Wales Private Hospital. Dr Lowe specialises in Medical Disorders of Pregnancy and has more than 25 years’ experience as a specialist helping women with a range of problems including hypertension, excessive morning sickness in pregnancy (hyperemesis gravidarum), heart or kidney disease.

All new patients require a current referral from their obstetrician, gynaecologist or general practitioner. It is best if you can fax or email your referral prior to your appointment to ensure Dr Lowe is the appropriate doctor for you to see. This will ensure we can best help you with your condition and maintain continuity with other doctors looking after you.

In the lead up to your appointment with Dr Lowe, please read through our “Information for Patients” site to see if there are things you can do to help your condition in the meantime.

Appointments can be made by phoning Dr Lowe’s office on Level 7, POWP Hospital 96504957.

Ranitidine Recall

Australian authorities have recommended a recall of all ranitidine tablets because of international reports of possible contamination of some brands of ranitidine medicines with an impurity called NMDA.

NMDA is commonly found in low levels in a variety of foods, particularly smoked and cured meats, as well as in some drinking water and in air pollution.

Long-term exposure with NMDA over decades may increase an individual’s risk of developing cancer.

There is no risk associated with short term use.

If you are taking ranitidine it is advisable to stop and substitute an alternative. Please discuss with your obstetrician, GP or make an appointment to discuss with A/Professor Lowe.
